Concepts and visuals
The pitch for Winchester Business School is a perfect example of how we work with other marketing teams. We have worked with Ministry of Fish for a number of years to provide an alternative creative team and over-flow for their in-house facility.
We needed to create a presentation that gave the client a spread of ideas for what would initially be a folder and a range of inserts and brochures. However, there was also a need to update and refresh how the information was presented and in doing so would help to guide a re-brand of the college. Consideration had to be given to signage advertising and other mar-comms.
Option 1 - Contemporary design simple folder
A swatch of colours and symbols were designed and developed to sub-brand each faculty while contemporary stock imagery was used as a cost-effective illustration for each. The ideas needed to show a range of standard and standard sizes and devices to encapsulate the information. This option utilised a standard A4 folder with inserts of various page quantities.
Option 2 - Winning creative design
The Business School were keen to look future focused but didn't want to completely loose the historical side of the facility - especially useful for international students looking for a slice of tradition. We designed a way to crop imagery to create a contemporary styled version of stained glass - where the lead used the white of the page to house fragments of the image in a more linear and digital way.
Option 3 - Typographic strength
The Business School had three phrases it wanted to retain - Future thinking, Creative and Responsible - and for the final version we wanted to encapsulate these phrases within three testimonials that represented the target audiences - students, lecturers and business leaders.
Imagery focused on the portraiture of the individuals and the typographical treatment highlighted the key phrases within the testimonials. We suggested using a more elaborate device for this version to encapsulate and secure the inserts providing a more elevated quality.
The brochures used simple colour coding with expanding, colour-coded bars highlighting the relevant faculty name.
